In 2016 the Alberta Cancer Foundation announced their support for Dr. Michael Weinfeld’s Colorectal Cancer Research Program, who were researching a new drug that would target cancer cells, making traditional treatments more effective. The research had the potential to radically change future cancer treatments, but it was difficult for prospective donors to understand how it would work.
Working directly with Dr. Weinfeld I learned about how the drug would work, and created a series of storyboards that could explain it in an easy to understand manner. With Dr. Weinfeld’s approval that our description was accurate, we proceeded with production of a video that not only explained how the drug worked, but also illustrated the impact the research could have on people battling colorectal cancer.
The video was initially shown at the 2016 Cross Cancer Institute Golf Classic, an event that raised $712,737 for the Colorectal Cancer Research Program, and again at the 2017 event that raised $1,200,000. Versions of the video continue to be used today to support the Colorectal Cancer Research Program.
